Collector's Steel Knife

from 600.00

The Collector's Knife is made for us by Bob Moran from a limited selection of historic woods.  This knife is hand forged from O1 tool steel, hardened, tempered, hand polished to a mirror finish, and hand sharpened to a razor's edge. Bob chooses tool steel because he believes it is far superior to even the best stainless steel knife. With the exception of a sanding disk on an electric drill to rough shape the handles and remove the file marks on the blade, and the same drill to bore a hole through the handles, they are made with only hand tools. Each knife takes between 12 and 20 hours of working time to complete. No molds or patterns are used, such that each knife is absolutely unique.  Hand forging and polishing is a time consuming and labor intensive process, so only few of these knives can be made each year.  If you would like your knife now, we will sell you what's available on hand.  Custom orders will take up to 30 days to process.

Collector's knife comes with a (non-historic) glass-topped wood box.

Dimensions:  9 1/4" Length x 1" Width x 1/2" Depth

Item shown and available immediately in Washington Horse Chestnut.  Other wood choices take 30 days from date of order.  Learn more at our woods page.
