Mount Vernon Whiskey Distillery Walnut Tree

Loading Mount Vernon WalnutThis is the massive Walnut tree (36-inch diameter at chest height) which grew next to the foundation of George Washington's original whiskey distillery.  The age of this tree has not yet been determined, but certainly was not there during Washington's time.  Unfortunately, the tree had to be removed in order for the archaeological study to be completed.
